I used to pull all-nighters every Tuesday night, my junior year of college.
Back then, I was editor of The Weekly, the arts supplement to The Daily, Canada's only student daily newspaper. And for every issue, we worked through the night so that Wednesday morning, the newspaper hit newsstands all over the McGill University campus.
Ever since then, I've had a love affair with newspapers and have no less than FIVE subscriptions that land on my front porch every week including:
The Portland Business Journal — Keeps me smart about everything happening in the marketplace in Portland.
The Sunday New York Times — Can't live without.
The Oregonian — A must for local coverage.
The Willamette Week — Keeps me young as Portland's "alternative weekly."
The Bee — All the news in the micro-climate of my neighborhood.
So, it will be no surprise that when I heard that The Portland Business Journal hosted a group called the "PDX Biz Women Coalition" for women business owners and C-suite bigwigs, I wanted in. (If you do too, find details here.)
Now that I'm a member, I've been featured in a recent issue — which you can see above or you can find posted at this link. In it, I tell a story about the time that I almost didn't become a public speaking coach.
What do you subscribe to? What print journalism is a must-read for you? I'd love to hear.
